More than 300 teenagers from 3 cities participated in HPA's mainstage productions during the 2019-2020 Season. After months of weekly rehearsals, the Grand Rapids students were able to perform 6 shows for audiences ranging from 400 to 900 patrons in each performance. Due to COVID-19, the remaining shows were cancelled. However, even through the rehearsal process the students grew personally in their sense of commitment, responsibility, self confidence, composure, interpersonal communication, social understanding, conflict resolution and work ethic. The students also experienced artistic growth in their performing abilities, including public speaking, singing, dancing, and acting.

HPA's StageWorks served students ages 5-12 years old. Approximately 250 students ages 8-12 participated in the StageWorks 2ND Stage productions each semester. All students rehearsed at least 10 weeks, some students performed for two audiences of more than 200 patrons, but some shows were cancelled due to COVID-19. Through this process the students grew personally in their sense of commitment, responsibility, self confidence, composure, interpersonal communication, social understanding, conflict resolution and work ethic. The students also experienced artistic growth in their performing abilities, including public speaking, singing, dancing, and acting. Approximately 25 students ages 5-7 participated in the StageWorks 1ST Stage program designed to introduce youngsters to performing! The class focuses on singing, dancing and movement, listening and rhythm games, speaking, acting and improvisation. Students also performed a short presentation of what they have learned. The goal is to help children learn from both the instruction as well as the experience of performing.

Approximately 190 students ages 8-18 participated in HPA's 2019 summer camps. These students participated in intensive daily programming which challenged them to step out of their comfort zone and develop their skills. They received actor training including memorization, performance, scene blocking, script analysis, and character development. They also received training in vocal performance, choreography and scene development both individually and corporately. At the end of the week the students displayed their growth by performing for an audience.
