HUMAN-ANIMAL STUDIES HAS IS A RAPIDLY GROWING INTERDISCIPLINARY FIELD THAT EXAMINES THE COMPLEX AND MULTIDIMENSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN HUMANS AND OTHER ANIMALS. ASI PROVIDES LEADERSHIP IN THE HAS FIELD BY WORKING WITH SCHOLARS AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES TO DEVELOP PROGRAMS, EVENTS, AND PUBLICATIONS THAT EXPAND THE AVAILABILITY OF COURSES AND RESOURCES IN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES. WE EXPOSE STUDENTS and FACULTY TO THE STUDY OF HUMAN-ANIMAL RELATIONSHIPS, PROVIDING ACCESS TO QUALITY INFORMATION ABOUT HAS AND OPPORTUNITIES. WE HELP TO CREATE AND IMPROVE HAS PROGRAMS WE PROMOTE SCHOLARLY WORK IN THE HAS FIELD AND MAKE IT MORE ACCESSIBLE TO HUMAN AND ANIMAL SERVICE PROFESSIONALS AND OTHER SCHOLARS as well as the general public VIA OUR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA WE HELP TO ASCERTAIN HAS RESEARCH PRIORITIES, TARGETING TOPICS THAT ARE UNDERRESEARCHED AND GIVING SCHOLARS VENUES TO PUBLISH. WE CONVENE CONVERSATIONS FOR SCHOLARS AND PRACTITIONERS TO DISCUSS THEIR WORK.

ASIS HUMAN-ANIMAL PROGRAMS HAP STAFF DEVELOPS AND DISSEMINATES RESOURCES TO A WIDE RANGE OF PROFESSIONALS, INCLUDING HUMAN SERVICES AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROFESSIONALS, ANIMAL WELFARE ADMINISTRATORS, AND HUMANE EDUCATORS. SPECIFICALLY, ASI PROVIDES INFORMATION AND RESOURCES TO HELP THOSE WHO ARE WORKING IN AREAS OF PRIMARY, SECONDARY AND TERTIARY PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF ANIMAL ABUSE TO ACCOMPLISH THEIR GOALS. OUR IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS EDUCATE PARTICIPANTS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF TAKING ANIMAL ABUSE SERIOUSLY, ASSESSMENT STRATEGIES, AND INTERVENTION OPTIONS. WE HAVE DEVELOPED A THREE-TIERED INTERVENTION AND TREATMENT PROGRAM TO HELP CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROFESSIONALS AND HUMAN SERVICE PROVIDERS IDENTIFY, EVALUATE, TREAT AND/OR APPROPRIATELY REFER INDIVIDUALS WHO ABUSE ANIMALS. WE OFFER HUMANE EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS EFFECTIVE PRACTICES AND TOOLS TO EVAULATE AND STRENGTHEN PROGRAMS.
