Organizations Filed Purposes:
PROTECT NATURAL AREAS, WORKING FARMLANDS, WATERS AND RECREATION SPACES IN SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN.
DURING FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020 LEGACY LAND CONSERVANCY PROTECTED AN ADDITIONAL 32 ACRES OF FARMLAND AND NATURAL AREAS THROUGH 1 CONSERVATION EASEMENT AND 1 ASSIST WITH LOCAL TOWNSHIP; BRINGING OUR TOTAL OVER A 49-YEAR HISTORY TO MORE THAN 9,000 ACRES OF LAND PROTECTED. IN TOTAL WE HOLD 3,758 ACRES IN CONSERVATION EASEMENTS WITHIN 86 PARCELS AND HAVE PROTECTED, BOTH SOLELY AND IN PARTNERSHIPS, 9,369 ACRES THROUGH 144 PROJECTS. PROTECTING THESE LANDS SAFEGUARDS ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER FOR DRINKING AND RECREATION, CONSERVES NATURAL SPACES TO SUPPORT PUBLIC RECREATION, PROTECTS WILDLIFE HABITAT, AND SUPPORTS THE CONTINUED VITALITY OF OUR LOCAL WORKING FARMS. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE CONTINUE TO INCREASE THE PACE OF CONSERVATION IN ORDER TO SECURE A LAND BASE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS AND ENHANCE OUR REGION'S QUALITY OF PLACE.
