To connect, equip, and mobilize people and organizations to care for land and water in their communities.
Member Communities Our Member Communities, sometimes referred to as Collaborative Conservation Communities, engage in on-the-ground conservation action, as well as volunteer and professional development. In 2019, The Stewardship Network hosted 170 trainings and workshops for its diverse and continually growing member base. Over 2,000 people were able to apply this information and new knowledge and skills in caring for natural areas.
Training and Events The 2019 Stewardship Network Conference connected, educated, and invigorated over 400 natural areas stewards from across North America. Presenters and participants came from a wide array of backgrounds, including private landowners, tribal members, government agency representatives, professional land managers, researchers, students, and more. This unique interdisciplinary conference continued its superb track record as one of the premier natural areas restoration conferences in the region, while involving an even greater diversity of presenters and participants than in previous years. Subject matter included advancements in ecological research, new tools and technologies, and peer to peer learning opportunities. The 2019 Spring Invasive Species Challenge continued its ongoing success with extensive engagement and ability to connect participants from across the United States and Canada to care for natural areas in a collaborative conservation campaign. Online Network Our monthly webcasts continued to grow in popularity in 2019, attended by natural areas professionals, researchers, students, volunteers, and landowners from around the world. In 2019, viewers from across North America engaged with our interactive webcasts in real time. Presentations included a range of topics including invasive species control, natural resource legislation changes, and best practices for field work. Webcast recordings and additional information are available to the public on our website.
