To provide resources to cover the emergency needs of area residents
The Ann Arbor Thrift Shop provides emergency support to individuals living in the Ann Arbor area. The support includes housing assistance, utility payment - electricity, water and gas, emergency medical needs, emergency transportation including bus passes as well as urgent car repairs or bicycle repairs required for employment and other miscellaneous support, such as mattresses. In addition, the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop provides grants to area nonprofit organizations which support the most vulnerable in the community. The source of funds to distribute support to meet these emergency needs is the sales of donated items which are collected, and curated and resold in a carefully managed shop. The Ann Arbor Thrift Shop is recognized in the community as a high-quality source to donate, recycle and purchase reusable items. Clothing, outer wear and household items are also provided to area residents in need of these articles.
