Organizations Filed Purposes: Internet2 promotes the missions of its members by providing both leading-edge network capabilities and unique partnership opportunities that together facilitate the development, deployment and use of revolutionary internet technologies.

Internet2 is an exceptional community of U.S. and international leaders in research, academia, industry and government who create and collaborate via innovative technologies. Together, we accelerate research discovery, advance national and global education, and improve the delivery of public services. Our community touches nearly every major innovation that defines our modern digital lives and continues to define "what's next".

Network Services is an advanced backbone network that connects regional network aggregation points to support the work of Internet2 Universities as they develop advanced internet applications. The Internet2 network is the nation's research and education network and provides state-of-the-art services that researchers use to accelerate the rate of their scientific work and discovery and to collaborate with colleagues and use digital assets and tools worldwide.

Community engagement is responsible for creating, sustaining and expanding membership and participation in Internet2 and building excitement around Internet2 programs and services for the global community. Membership Services engages directly with the Internet2 community in meaningful ways that cultivate strong relationships and enable community members to realize their potential through Internet2.

Internet2 provides the community-built and community-driven trust and identity infrastructure that supports faculty and staff, researchers and scholars, and access to services across the U.S. and globally. The identity and access management model provides the policy and technical backbone for secure interactions, and allows single sign-on convenience for individuals. The Trust and Identity in Education and Research (TIER) program is a community-driven consistent approach to identity and access management. TIER aims to simplify campus processes and advance inter-institutional collaboration and research.
