Peer 360 offers recovery coaching training, coaching services, community outreach activities, and sober social events to provide support and reduce the stigma of addiction in multi-county region in Mid-Michigan.
We are many hopeful pathways from active substance use disorder to recovery, united to reduce stigma & offer support, education and advocacy in our communities.
Peer 360 conducts training services to recovery coaches for certification and other specialty training in preparation for employment or other support activities in the community. During fiscal year 2020, 41 days of training were provided to 416 participants as compared to 30 days of professional training to approximately 552 participants in 2019. The number of trainings increased in FY2020 due to need to social distance or conduct virtually during the pandemic, so fewer participants were allowed per training class.
Peer 360 contracts with trained recovery coaches to provide support groups for those struggling with substance use disorder to help them bridge the gap between formal treatment and the recovery community. These groups are conducted at convenient locations around the different communities. In 2020, during the pandemic, in person groups were not an option, so the Organization quickly converted to virtual groups. In addition, the staff focused on virtual recovery encounters where recovery support services were provided on an individual basis and these encounters were tracked more intentionally. For fiscal year 2020 approximately 1,977 groups and encounters were provided with total attendance of 16,896, as compared to 2019 where 950 recovery support groups were conducted with total attendance of 6,691. In addition, a new program was started in mid August of 2020 that offers virtual recovery groups twice per day to a larger geographic area, called Recovery on the 9s. In FY20 93 group sessions were offered with a total attendance of 894.
To help reduce the stigma of addiction in each of these communities and to provide activities that support a sober lifestyle, Peer 360 contractors, employees and volunteers organize sober social events within these communities and participate in other community outreach activities. During 2020, approximately 38 recovery community social events were organized with total attendance of 1,588, and Peer 360 participated in 20 outreach events. During 2019, 61 recovery community social events were organized with total attendance in excess 33,614, and participation in 110 outreach events. The pandemic that started March 2020 significantly impacted the ability to gather for social events or other outreach activities. Events in 2020 were smaller in attendance or virtual, but did continue throughout the year.
