CULTURESOURCE ADVANCES THE WORK OF ORGANIZATIONS THAT CULTIVATE CREATIVE AND CULTURAL EXPRESSION IN SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN.
CAPACITY BUILDING AND PROFESSIONAL CONVENINGCULTURESOURCE PROVIDED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES TO THE SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN ARTS AND CULTURE SECTOR THAT FEATURED LOCAL EXPERTS AND NATIONAL THOUGHT LEADERS. TOPICS COVERED INCLUDED THE ARTS FUNDRAISING AND MARKETING STRATEGIES, ARTIST ENGAGEMENT, BEST PRACTICES IN PUBLIC ART PROGRAMMING, SUCCESSION PLANNING, AND GENERAL TRENDS/RESEARCH IN THE ARTS AND CULTURE SECTOR. WE ALSO IMPLEMENTED SPECIFIC PROGRAMS WITH SUPPORT FROM VARIOUS PARTNERS. THOSE INCLUDED AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION OF CONTEMPORARY CULTURE WITH RISING LEADERS WASHTENAW COUNTY, AND SUPPORT OF SPECIAL INITIATIVES BY REGION FOUNDATIONS THROUGH ADVICE OR REGRANTING SERVICES, AND SUPPORT OF INDEPENDENT ARTISTS AND CULTURE WORKERS' PROJECTS.
COMMUNITY INITIATIVES ONE OF OUR COMMUNITY INITIATIVES WAS, AND CONTINUES TO BE CULTUREPOP. A COLLABORATION BETWEEN CULTURESOURCE AND QUICKEN LOANS COMMUNITY FUND TO ACTIVATE PUBLIC SPACES IN DOWNTOWN DETROIT WITH CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS OF ART AND CULTURE. BEYOND A ONE-TIME PERFORMANCE, THIS INITIATIVE IS ALSO MEANT TO BUILD THE LONG-TERM CAPACITY IN PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS TO WORK IN NEW SPACES AND STRENGTHEN THEIR SKILLS AT ATTRACTING NEW AUDIENCES. WE ALSO HOSTED THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS FOR THEIR SUMMER MEETING OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON THE ARTS, BRINGING TOGETHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS, CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS, AND ARTISTS FOR A TOUR AND CELEBRATION OF ARTS AND CULTURE IN SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN.
PROMOTION OF ARTS AND CULTURE CULTURESOURCE USES SEVERAL MARKETING CHANNELS TO BRING AWARENESS TO OUR WORK AND OUR MEMBERS AND PARTNERS' INITIATIVES. THESE INCLUDE OUR WEBSITE (CULTURESOURCE.ORG) THAT FUNCTIONS AS A HUB OF INFORMATION ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION AND MEMBERS; A MONTHLY MEMBER E-NEWSLETTER WITH FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES, JOB POSTINGS, AND SECTOR TRENDS AND INFO; PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ARTS NEWS FOR PUBLIC SUBSCRIBERS; AND SOCIAL MEDIA EXPRESSIONS VIA OUR FACEBOOK, TWITTER, AND INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS. IN 2019 WE COMPLETED A COMPREHENSIVE REBRANDING PROGRAM AND LAUNCHED NEW MARKETING PLATFORMS.
