TO CREATE AND ENHANCE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR DETROIT PUBLIC SCHOOLS STUDENTS, FAMILIES AND EDUCATORS
The DPSF oversees 3.5MM in program restricted funds. Major programs include a lead partnership with Ford Motor Company Fund in the operations of the Ford Resource and Engagement Center FREC at Fisher Upper Magnet Academy--with a 5 million investment over 5 years providing resources and services to families and a 3 million grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation to support parent engagement programs including parent-teacher home visits, kindergarten boot camp, and the Parent Academy program, which provides wrap-around support, education, training, and health and human service resources. Another program is the Workforce Partnership Initiative, a 300K investment, which is a comprehensive approach to prepare students for college and career. We have enhanced industry-based career pathway education and created new programming and to establish Career Academies at every high school, including new Career and Technical Education opportunities, dual enrollment, increased credential attainment, job shadowing, summer employment, and work-based learning opportunities.
