Organizations Filed Purposes:
PROMOTE AVIATION AS A CAREER FOR YOUTH AND PRESERVE & DISPLAY THE HISTORY OF THE TUSKEGEE AIRMEN
Youth & Other Programs: Aviation Academy soloed one 15-year old female student in motor gliders;Ground school had ten 14-19 year olds and 10 adults;Rocket class had 7 students ages 10-14. Conducted 3 ACE Academies in partnership with Wayne State Univ., National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employers, Black United Fund of Mich.,Black Pilots of America and the FAA. EAA Chapter 1351, held 6 Young Eagle Rallies giving more than 300 youth ages 8-17 free airplane rides. Hosted 3 youths,3 young adults and two original Tuskegee Airmen at AirVenture 2019 in Oshkosh, WI. The original airmens historic stories were told.Visited 2 Detroit area schools weekly to teach Aviation and Aerspace basics, including career, theory of flight, navigation, weather,how to build & launch a model rocket and a flight in an airplane.Performed an Air Show for City of Detroit during the 3-Day River Days Festival, including historic WWII aircraft,the only glider formation team and acrobatics
Fund Raising: (1) The direct mail campaign continues to be a success. Donors are contributing via the website, directly to the Museum and to the direct mail campaign.(2)Ford Motor Company continues to be a consistent sponsor contributing to the design & construction of the new exhibit.
Aircraft:Non-airworthy aircraft was donated to our Organization to be sold to raise money for the youth program. Plans are being made to update all aircraft to meet with new ADS-8 transponder standards.
