Amazon Relief provides humanitarian aid to victims of poverty
In 2020 Amazon Relief funded programs to feed and educate approximately 2,500 impoverished and "at risk" children living in the Amazon (year-round programs). In addition, it helped funded programs designed to assist approximately 4,500 "street children" and other poor youth. It also provided tutoring assistance for grade school and high school children and adult education for approximately 1,000 of the poor. Amazon Relief also funded three soup kitchens in the Amazon, serving about 1,500 weekly meals to the poor. It also provided social programs, food, medicine, and household assistance benefitting approximately 1,500 lepers and their families. It also constructed community buildings to benefit impoverished people living in remote areas of the jungle. Amazon Relief spent $321,850 on the foregoing programs. All of the foregoing programs are operated and all recipients reside in the Amazon Region of Brazil.
