Organizations Filed Purposes: DELIVERING QUALITY MENTORING TO STRENGTHEN AND ENHANCE WEST MICHIGAN'S AND ENHANCE WEST MICHIGAN'S BUSINESS LEADERS.

RECRUITING, EVALUATION, AND CONSULTING OF MENTEES. THE MENTEES CONSIST OF WEST MICHIGAN BUSINESS LEADERS WHO ARE CEOs, PRESIDENTS, OR DETERMINED DECISION MAKERS OF BUSINESSES. DURING 2014 THE JEM PROGRAM ACCEPTED 11 ADDITIONAL MENTEES TO THE PROGRAM, BRINGING THE TOTAL MENTEES TO 27 (25 MEN AND TWO WOMEN) AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2014. THE 2014 RECRUITING CYCLE INCLUDED RECEIPT OF 17 APPLICATIONS, OF WHICH 12 WERE REVIEWED AND INTERVIEWED, LEADING TO THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE 11 2014 MENTEES. THE PROGRAM REQUIRES A THREE-YEAR COMMITMENT FROM ALL MENTEES THAT INCLUDES SEMI-MONTHLY MEETINGS WITH THEIR MENTOR AND ATTENDANCE AT VARIOUS EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. APPROXIMATELY 70% OF THE OPERATING AND STAFF COSTS WERE RELATED TO ACCEPTING, MATCHING, EDUCATING AND BEING A RESOURCE TO THE INDIVIDUAL MENTEES.

RECRUITING AND EVALUATION OF QUALIFIED WEST MICHIGAN BUSINESS LEADERS TO SERVE AS MENTORS. THE PROGRAM SPONSORS EDUCATIONAL EVENTS FOR MENTORS IN VARIOUS BUSINESS CATEGORIES AND ALSO PROVIDES FOR PEER MENTOR GROUP SESSIONS THAT ASSIST A MENTOR IN AIDING A MENTEE. IN 2014 THE JEM PROGRAM RECRUITED EIGHT NEW MENTORS. THE TOTAL MENTORS IN THE PROGRAM AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2014 WAS 30: 29 MEN AND ONE WOMAN. IN ADDITION TO OTHER ANNUAL EDUCATIONAL EVENTS, THE MENTORS EACH PARTICIPATE IN A TRAINING AND BEST-PRACTICES SEMINAR IN MAY AND OCTOBER. APPROXIMATELY 20% OF THE OPERATING AND STAFF COSTS WERE RELATED TO ACCEPTING, MATCHING AND EDUCATING MENTORS.

JEM HOLDS GROUP MEETINGS, TYPICALLY ONCE A MONTH. THERE WERE 12 EVENTS HELD IN 2014. FOUR EVENTS WERE CONSIDERED EDUCATIONAL BY PROVIDING A SPEAKER OR GROUP OF PRESENTERS AND INCLUDING TOPICS SUCH AS HIRING AND RETAINING TALENT, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, AND BUILDING COMPETATIVE MODELS. FOUR EVENTS WERE CONSIDERED "PARTICIPANT SITE VISITS," MEETINGS ALLOWING THE GROUP TO VISIT A MENTEE'S PLACE OF BUSINESS AND DISCUSS TOPICS THAT MIGHT BE HELPFUL FOR THE HOST AND INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATING. ONE MEETING WAS SOCIAL IN NATURE, THE ANNUAL GOLF OUTING. THE JEM ANNUAL MEETING WAS HELD ON AUGUST 21 AND WAS CONSIDERED THE LAUNCH OF A PROGRAM YEAR. THE MEETING ACTIVITIES INCLUDED INTRODUCING NEW MEMBERS, CONGRATULATING GRADUATING MEMBERS, AND A GUEST SPEAKER.
