THE MISSION OF URBAN ROOTS IS TO CULTIVATE HEALTHY COMMUNITIES
The Urban Roots Community Market and YourShare box program is core to our mission of cultivating healthy communities in Grand Rapids, MI and provides a vibrant food source in the Madison Square neighborhood. The mission of the Market and YourShare box program is to provide healthy, local (where possible) whole food at accessible prices to our neighbors and community.
The mobile classroom is the program Urban Roots employs to support community gardens at schools, community organizations, and churches throughout Grand Rapids.In addition to supporting 10 school and community gardens in 2019 Urban Roots was awarded a USDA grant to work with 4 school gardens over 2 years. Additionally, Urban Roots reconfigured its garden support providing more garden education training at our Madison location as well as seasonal training guides and online resources.
The Urban Roots Community Farm is the heart of what we do. It exists as a platform for genuine interaction, shared meals, and a classroom for experiential learning. All of our programs intersect with the community farm in one way or another.
