Organizations Filed Purposes: THE ISCHOOLS ORGANIZATION IS AN INTERNATIONAL CONSORTIUM OF INFORMATION SCHOOLS IN INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION DEDICATED TO ADVANCING THE INFORMATION FIELD IN THE 21ST CENTURY THROUGH THE SHARED FUNDAMENTAL INTEREST IN THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN INFORMATION, PEOPLE, AND TECHNOLOGY.

COLLECTIVELY, THE MEMBERS OF ISCHOOLS WORK TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE GOALS SUCH AS: (I) USING THEIR COLLECTIVE EFFORTS TO LEAD, PROMOTE, AND SHAPE THE INFORMATION FIELD, (II) CREATE EFFECTIVE RESPONSES TO STRATEGIC RESEARCH AND LEVERAGE AVAILABLE FUNDING TO ENHANCE ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES IN THE INFORMATION FIELD, (III) ALLOW MEMBER SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND SOLUTIONS TO SHARED CHALLENGES, (IV) PROVIDE INFORMED PERSPECTIVES ON MATTERS OF PUBLIC POLICY AS THEY AFFECT THE COLLECTION, ORGANIZATION, DISSEMINATION, USE AND PRESERVATION OF INFORMATION. ISCHOOLS HOSTS AN INTERNATIONAL ICONFERENCE ANNUALLY THAT COVERS VARIOUS TOPICS IMPORTANT TO THE INFORMATION COMMUNITY AND THE ISCHOOLS MEMBERS. ICONFERENCE ATTENDEES DO NOT NEED TO BE MEMBERS OF ISCHOOLS; INSTEAD MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. THE PROGRAM CONTAINS VARIOUS WORKSHOPS, SPEAKERS, AND MEETINGS RELATED TO TOPICS INCLUDING INFORMATION BEHAVIOR, SOCIAL, CULTURAL, HEALTH AND COMMUNITY INFORMATICS, HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION, EDUCATION IN LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE, DIGITAL CURATION AND PRESERVATION, AND DIGITAL YOUTH. THE MARCH 2019 ICONFERENCE WAS HELD IN WASHINGTON, D.C., USA. IT HAD 593 PARTICIPANTS, 44 FULL RESEARCH PAPERS (ACCEPTANCE RATE 33%), 33 SHORT RESEARCH PAPERS, 92 POSTERS, 13 WORKSHOPS, 14 SESSIONS OF INTERACTION AND ENGAGEMENT, 9 ISCHOOLS PARTNERSHIPS AND PRACTICES PRESENTATIONS, 3 SPECIAL PANELS, 28 DOCTORAL COLLOQUIUM PARTICIPANTS ACCEPTED, 21 EARLY CAREER COLLOQUIUM PARTICIPANTS ACCEPTED, AND 42 UNDERGRADUATE SYMPOSIUM PARTICIPANTS ACCEPTED.
