BECAUSE THE CORPORATION DOES NOT PURSUE COLLECTION OF AMOUNTS DETERMINED TO QUALIFY AS CHARITY CARE, THEY ARE NOT REPORTED AS REVENUE. CHARITY CARE IS DETERMINED BASED ON ESTABLISHED POLICIES, USING RESIDENT INCOME AND ASSETS TO DETERMINE PAYMENT ABILITY. THE AMOUNT REFLECTS THE COST OF FREE OR DISCOUNTED HEALTH SERVICES, NET OF CONTRIBUTIONS AND OTHER REVENUE RECEIVED, AS DIRECT ASSISTANCE FOR THE PROVISION OF CHARITY CARE. THE ESTIMATED COST OF PROVIDING CHARITY SERVICES IS BASED ON A CALCULATION THAT APPLIES A RATIO OF COST TO CHARGES TO THE GROSS UNCOMPENSATED CHARGES ASSOCIATED WITH PROVIDING CARE TO CHARITY RESIDENTS. THE RATIO OF COST TO CHARGES IS CALCULATED BASED ON THE CORPORATION'S TOTAL EXPENSES (LESS BAD DEBT EXPENSE) DIVIDED BY GROSS REVENUE CHARGES. THE CORPORATION ESTIMATES THAT IT PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY $400,000 AND $320,000 OF SERVICES TO INDIGENT RESIDENTS DURING 2020 AND 2019, RESPECTIVELY.IN ADDITION, UNDER ARRANGEMENTS WITH VARIOUS GOVERNMENTAL INSURANCE PROGRAMS, THE CORPORATION PROVIDES SIGNIFICANT CARE TO THE LOCAL POPULATION FOR WHICH REIMBURSEMENT FOR SERVICES RENDERED IS GENERALLY LESS THAN THE COST OF PROVIDING SUCH SERVICES. AS PART OF ITS OBLIGATION TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES, THE CORPORATION ALSO PROVIDES NUMEROUS OTHER SERVICES THAT BENEFIT THE COMMUNITIES AND ARE GENERALLY PERFORMED AT NO CHARGE. THE CORPORATION HAS RECOGNIZED APPROXIMATELY $2,418,000 AND $2,327,000 OF IMPLICIT PRICE CONCESSIONS RELATED TO RESIDENTS UNDER THE MEDICAID PROGRAM FOR THE YEARS ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2020 AND 2019, RESPECTIVELY.
SKILLED NURSING CARE FOR 288 PERSONS WITH PHYSICAL AND DEMENTIA NEEDS REQUIRING 24 HOUR LICENSED NURSING CARE BOTH LONG TERM AND SHORT TERM REHABILITATION.
