Organizations Filed Purposes: TO RECEIVE AND ADMINISTER FUNDS AND PROPERTY FOR THE SOCIAL WELFARE OF THE COMMUNITY AND TO PROMOTE AND PROTECT THE INTERESTS OF THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY BY ADVOCATING WITH RESPECT TO LEGISLATION AND OTHER MEANS.

THROUGHOUT 2019, THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY PROTECTION FUND BEGAN ACQUIRING FUNDS AND AN IRS DESIGNATION IN PREPARATION FOR WHATEVER CHALLENGES WOULD BE FACED IN THE INDUSTRY, FOLLOWING THE APRIL 2019 MERGER OF THE MICHIGAN RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION AND THE MICHIGAN LODGING & TOURISM ASSOCIATION. THE FUND BEGAN RECEIVING DONATIONS, SET UP A BANK ACCOUNT, ORDERED CHECKS AND APPLIED FOR AND RECEIVED THEIR TAX-EXEMPT STATUS FROM THE IRS. WE ANTICIPATED, AND NOW SEE, THAT THE NEED FOR THIS FUND IS APPARENT IN OUR INDUSTRY IN 2020.
