Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AS WELL AS SENIOR CITIZENS AGING IN PLACE. THE ORGANIZATION IS INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY LIVING SUPPORTS AND RESPITE SERVICES PROGRAM AND THE CHILDREN'S WAIVER PROGRAM PROVIDED TO FAMILIES LIVING IN MACOMB COUNTY. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE SERVICES TO CAREGIVERS OF CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, CHALLENGING BEHAVIORS OR COMPLEX MEDICAL NEEDS. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES SERVICES WITH THE MACOMB-OAKLAND REGIONAL CENTER, INC. FOR ADDITIONAL ADULT FOSTER CARE HOMES. THE GOAL OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO PROMOTE QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE COMMUNITY, PROMOTE HEALTH, DIGNITY, HAPPINESS AND SECURITY REGARDLESS OF THE LEVEL OF PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE, OR EMOTIONAL ABILITY OR DISABILITY.
PROVIDE RESIDENTIAL AND IN HOME SUPPORT SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.
PROVIDE ADULT FOSTER CARE RESIDENTIAL SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES IN COMMUNITY-BASED SETTINGS. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY-BASED PERMANENT HOUSING IN A SKILL BUILDING AND FAMILY ENVIRONMENT FOR ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO PEOPLE SERVED IN LICENSED FACILITIES AND PERSONAL RESIDENCES IN MACOMB AND OAKLAND COUNTIES IN MICHIGAN. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE SERVICES TWENTY-FOUR HOURS A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK. COORDINATION SERVICES WERE PROVIDED WITH THE MACOMB-OAKLAND REGIONAL CENTER. PEOPLE RECEIVED RESIDENTIAL CARE IN THE LOVELY COMMUNITY-BASED HOMES, SKILL BUILDING PROGRAMS IN THE HOME AND IN CONJUNCTION WITH ADULT DAY PROGRAMS, AND HAD ACCESS TO COMMUNITY-BASED ACTIVITIES.
PROVIDE IN-HOME SUPPORT AND RESPITE SERVICES FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILTIES LIVING IN FAMILY HOMES IN ORDER TO FACILITATE THEIR POTENTIAL AND GIVE FAMILY CAREGIVERS SUPPORT.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IS NOW A MAJOR COMPONENT OF PROGRAM SERVICES OFFERED BY THE AGENCY. THE OT PROGRAM SERVICES CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS, AND ADULTS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS, AS WELL AS THE SAME POPULATION WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. INTERVENTION FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM IS CURRENTLY THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE REHABILITATION PROGRAM, AND KAREN HARRIS, FOUNDER/CEO, WHO HOLDS BACHELORS AND MASTER'S DEGREES IN OT IS COMPLETING A PHD IN EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT AUGMENTING THE EARLY INTERVENTION/CHILD MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE AGENCY. HOLLY BISHOP WHO IS A MASTER'S LEVEL OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST PROVIDES HANDS ON SERVICES FOR CHILDREN, TEENS, AND ADULTS WITH AUTISM AND OTHER DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. HOLLY BRINGS ENERGY, CREATIVITY, AND A HIGH LEVEL OF DEDICATION TO THE OT PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY KAREN HARRIS WHO REMAINS ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN THE PROGRAM.
