K12 TEACHING & LEARNING: IN 2019, SEEDS SUPPLIED OVER 83,000 STUDENT-CONTACT HOURS OF ACADEMIC AND CULTURAL ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES AT SEVERAL PARTNER SCHOOLS IN NORTHWEST MICHIGAN THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE YEAR. IN ADDITION TO HOSTING SAFE AND INSPIRING SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL-LEARNING SPACES, SEEDS PROGRAMS SPECIFICALLY INCLUDE STEM SUBJECTS, ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, NUTRITION AND CULINARY ARTS INSTRUCTION, ARTS AND CULTURE, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, RENEWABLE ENERGY INSTRUCTION, AND WHOLE-FAMILY ACTIVITIES. AFTER SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE PREDOMINANTLY FROM UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES WITH HIGH RATES OF POVERTY
ECOCORPS PROGRAMMING: SINCE 2009, THE SEEDS ECOCORPS HAS PROVIDED OVER 550 SEASONAL JOBS TO LOCAL YOUTH OFFERING OVER $1.5MILLION IN DIRECT WAGES AND OVER $350,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS. ECOCORPS MEMBERS RECEIVE INTENSIVE MENTORSHIP, RESUME BUILDING WORK EXPERIENCES, INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED CREDENTIALS, AND CONNECTION TO CAREER BUILDING NETWORKS. IN 2019 SEEDS EMPLOYED 25 MEMBERS WHO BUILT OR IMPROVED 13 MILES OF TRAIL AND 15 PUBLIC PARKS, AND SUPPORTED A VARIETY OF COMMUNITY EVENTS. ECOCORPS MEMBERS ARE PREDOMINANTLY RECRUITED FROM UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS WITH HIGH RATES OF UNEMPLOYMENT
ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT: SEEDS CONTINUES A TRADITION OF OFFERING PROFESSIONAL ANALYSIS AND SMART ENERGY & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT COACHING TO UNITS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND A VARIETY OF OTHER COMMUNITY INSTITUTIONS INCLUDING 21 UNIQUE CLIENTS IN 2019. SEEDS ALSO SERVED AS FACILITATOR TO THE CITY OF TRAVERSE CITY'S GREEN TEAM AND PROVIDED OVER 500 HOURS OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION. AT HISTORIC BARNS PARK, SEEDS INSTALLED 100% SOLAR POWERED STREET AND PATHWAY LIGHTING EQUIPMENT AS A PILOT TOWARD HELPING THE PARK-PROPERTY ACHIEVE A GOAL OF NET-ZERO ENERGY CONSUMPTION, NET-ZERO WASTE, AND NET-ZERO GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS.
