Our mission is to provide HIV/AIDS related services to our community through compassionate direct care, prevention and outreach activities. The service area includes Washtenaw, Jackson, Lenawee and Livingston Counties. Services include HIV/AIDS education, community outreach, HIV testing, case management, housing assistance and support services for people living with HIV/AIDS.
On an annual basis, the HIV/AIDS Resource Center (HARC) provides medical and non-medical case management to over 225 individuals living with HIV/AIDS. This includes monitoring medical care through HIV specialists, assisting clients in accessing HIV medication and insurance benefits, providing clients with medication adherence counseling, and linking them to other needed services, such as substance abuse treatment, dental care, mental health services or other services that help meet needs identified in client service plans. HARC also provides housing assistance for people living with HIV/AIDS who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
HARC provides HIV education, outreach and testing services free of charge to community members at risk of HIV infection. Specifically, HARC provides approximately 2,500 outreach contacts annually through a mobile unit that goes to community sites. HARC also provides HIV counseling, testing and referral services to 700 individuals annually. Prevention services include HIV education and skill building sessions at substance abuse treatment centers and for those living with HIV/AIDS.
