WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY IS DEDICATED TO EMPOWERING PEOPLE TO MAKE A POSITIVE CHANGE BY COORDINATING AND ADMINISTERING RESOURCES
WEST CENTRAL'S HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER (HCV) PROGRAM PROVIDED OVER 1,360 HOUSEHOLDS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE IN DECENT, SAFE, AND SANITARY HOUSING OF THEIR CHOICE. PARTICIPANTS OF THE HCV PROGRAM ARE OFFERED THE CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE HOUSING FAMILY SELF SUFFICIENCY (FSS) PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM OFFERS APPROXIMATELY 199 FAMILIES AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK ON REMOVING BARRIERS TO THEIR SUCCESS IN ORDER TO BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT.
WEST CENTRAL'S HEAD START PROGRAM PROVIDED CHILDCARE AND PRESCHOOL SERVICES FOR INCOME ELIGIBLE FAMILIES IN THE 9 COUNTIES SERVED. THE NUMBER OF PRESCHOOL CHILDREN SERVED WAS 406 AND THE NUMBER OF INFANTS AND TODDLERS SERVED WAS 108. ALL CHILDREN WERE PROVIDED WITH PREVENTATIVE HEALTHCARE SERVICES SUCH AS DENTAL EXAMS, HEARING TESTING, HEIGHT AND WEIGHT MEASURES, AND IMMUNIZATION TRACKING. PARENT ENGAGEMENT IN THEIR CHILD'S EDUCATION IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. THIS PARTICIPATION ASSISTED IN RAISING 1,365,286 WORTH OF VOLUNTEER HOURS AND IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS.
WEST CENTRAL'S ENERGY CONSERVATION UNIT ADMINISTERS THE WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (WAP). THIS PROGRAM ENABLES LOW-INCOME FAMILIES TO REDUCE THEIR ENERGY BILLS BY MAKING THEIR HOMES MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT. FUNDS ARE USED TO IMPROVE THE ENERGY PERFORMANCE OF DWELLINGS FOR FAMILIES IN NEED, USING THE MOST ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES AND TESTING PROCEDURES AVAILABLE IN THE HOUSING INDUSTRY. THE UNIT ALSO ADMINISTERS THE HOME REPAIR OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM (HERO) AND THE MISSOURI HOUSING TRUST FUND (HTF) URGENCY REPAIR PROGRAM. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE FUNDING TO MEET THE NEEDS FOR HOME REPAIR, MODIFICATION, AND MAINTENANCE FOR LOW AND MODERATE INCOME HOMEOWNERS IN THE NON-METROPOLITAN AREAS OF MISSOURI. WEST CENTRAL WEATHERIZED 38 HOMES AND REHABILITATED 14 HOMES IN FISCAL YEAR 2019 THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS.
