THE NATIONAL SEED PROGRAM ALL BUT STOPPED IN 2019 DUE TO THE EXTREME FLOODING OF KEY SEED PRODUCTION STATES IN THE U.S. AND CANADA AND NO SEED AVAILABLE FOR CONSERVATION OF ANY VARIETY FROM ANY SUPPLIER. TO DATE OVER 317,182 ACRES WERE PLANTED IN 21 STATES AFFECTING 6.4 MILLION ACRES OF HABITAT AT A VALUE OF 4.5 MILLION DOLLARS. THE OREGON /BLM PARTNERSHIP WITH QUWF SAW 500 ACTIVE MANAGEMENT ACRES INFLUENCING SOME 10,000 ACRES AT A VALUE OF 1,000,000 WITH VOLUNTEER MATCH OF 109,858.00 IN VOLUNTEER HABITAT WORK INSTALLING WATER LINES, PLANTING TREES AND REMOVING INVASIVE JUNIPER. THIS PROJECT AFFECTS ELK, DEER, CHUKAR, PHEASANT, MOUNTAIN QUAIL AND MANY SMALL GAME AND SONG BIRD SPECIES. QUWF FOR THE FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR, IS THE NUMBER 1 BOB WHITE QUAIL CONSERVATION ORGANIZATION IN THE U.S. AS RATED BY THE NATIONAL BOBWHITE CONSERVATION INITIATIVE, WITH OVER 58,000 ACTUAL ACRES RESTORED, NATIONWIDE, FOR THE BOBWHITE QUAIL. THAT INFLUENCES ANOTHER 116,000 ACRES OF HABITAT AT A VALUE OF 1.16 MILLION DOLLARS WITH UNTOLD VOLUNTEER HOURS INVESTED. THE VA CHAPTER INVESTED OVER 1 MILLION DOLLARS IN QUAIL WORK WITH 400,000 IN VOLUNTEER AND EQUIPMENT TIME, LEADING THE EFFORTS. ALL CHAPTERS CONDUCTED YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAMS INCLUDING YOUTH HUNTS, ARCHERY CLASSES AND YOUTH FISHING TEAMS, GENERAL PUBLIC SEMINARS ACROSS THE U.S.

THE RESTOCKING OF THE RUFFED GROUSE IN MISSOURI, NOW IN YEAR TWO IS SEEING GREAT SUCCESS. 100 ADDITIONAL BIRDS IN 2019 ON AN ESTIMATED 120,000 ACRES OF HEAVILY MANAGED LANDS OF 120 LANDOWNERS. THAT REPRESENTS A HABITAT VALUE OF NEARLY 12 MILLION DOLLARS OF IMPACT AND VOLUNTEER HOURS OF NEARLY 400,000 FROM VOLUNTEERS. THE STATE HAS ALSO INVESTED OVER 2 MILLION IN RESEARCH, MANPOWER AND THE RESTOCKING EFFORT. THE QUWF COOP IS BELIEVED TO BE THE LARGEST IN THE COUNTRY FOR GROUSE RESTORATION. IN 2019 QUWF ESTABLISHED A SECOND GROUSE COOP IN THE CATSKILLS MOUNTAINS OF NY ON 200 RECOVERED AGRICULTURAL ACRES WHERE GROUSE ARE RESIDENT. ADDITIONAL LANDOWNERS ADD 360 ACRES TO THE COOP. TSI IS BEING CONDUCTED WITH A VOLUNTEER INVESTMENT OF 5,000 IN THE FALL OF 2019 WITH THE PLANNING OF A NEW APPLE ORCHARD FOR WILDLIFE IN A NEW FOREST OPENING BEGUN. HABITAT INFLUENCE ON ADJACENT LANDS IS NOW 4,000 ACRES AT A VALUE OF 400,000. RESIDENT GROUSE, DEER, TURKEY, RABBITS (WHITE AND COTTONTAIL)

CHAPTER HABITAT WORK FROM HIGH DESERT GUZZLERS TO TOTALLY SPONSORING FFA YOUTH PROGRAMS IN ALL HIGH SCHOOLS IN SOME COUNTIES CONTINUES TO BE THE CORE INVESTMENT OF QUWF. QUWF MAINTAINS 280 HIGH DESERT GUZZLERS (WATER GATHERING DEVICES FOR WILDLIFE) IN 4 STATES THAT AFFECT MILLIONS OF ACRES OF SENSITIVE HABITAT. OUR YOUTH CAMPS CONTINUE TO EXPAND TO NEARLY 2,000 YOUTH IN 2018 WITH HABITAT SEMINARS, YOUTH HUNTS FOR DOVE, DEER, DUCK AND HUNTER SAFETY. WE WORK IN HABITAT OF ELK, MULE DEER, WHITETAIL DEER, MOUNTAIN, VALLEY, BLUE AND BOB WHITE QUAIL, RABBITS, DOVE, TURKEY, SQUIRRELS AND COUNTLESS SONGBIRD SPECIES. THIS COMBINED VALUE IS WELL OVER 2.0 MILLION WITH VOLUNTEER HOURS GENERATING A VALUE OVER 500,000 ACROSS THE U.S. FOR 2018. IN 2018 WE ADDED CLEAN STREAMS AND YOUTH FISHING INITIATIVES TO THE QUWF DRIVE TO ENCOMPASS AND SUPPORT THE GROWING INVOLVEMENT OF YOUTH FISHING AND WATER QUALITY PROJECTS.
