Organizations Filed Purposes: To advance cooperation as an economic and social philosophy and to build a more cohesive cooperative and mutual insurance sector, and to this end undertake the following: a) Provide a forum for members to discuss topics of common interest & promote the successful pursuit of ICMIF programs; b) Promote and advise on ICMIF membership for cooperative/mutual insurers in the Americas; c) Facilitate mutually beneficial relationships among members; d) Coordinate and promote cooperative/mutual insurance development in the Americas; e) Promote understanding of and advocacy for the cooperative/mutual insurance sector in the Americas.

To support and develop effective and viable co-operative, popular-based insurance organizations throughout the Americas.

Annual Conference: Every year ICMIF/Americas holds a two and a half day Annual Conference which brings together approximately 150 delegates from members countries across the Americas to share best practices, industry intelligence and research. The event offers member companies opportunities for professional development, institutional strengthening, knowledge sharing and business networking. Plenary sessions with simultaneous interpretation offer CEOs, board member and senior staff opportunities to share solutions to common challenge and unique opportunities of the cooperative and mutual insurance industry.

5 5 5 Plan for Colombia: The ICMIF Foundation's 5-5-5 Mutual Microinsurance Strategy aims to develop mutual microinsurance in five emerging market countries, reaching out to five million uninsured low-income households, or 25 million individuals in total, over a period of five years. Over the next five years, ICMIF/Americas will work with the ICMIF Foundation, Colombian cooperative insurers and other local partners to develop a national diagnostic study, an evidence-based strategy and intervention program to reach one million Colombian households, or approximately 4,000,000 low income Colombians.

Seminars, Workshops and Events: ICMIF/Americas organizes periodic workshops and seminars on technical and thematic topics of interest to members as well as organizing a delegation of members to attend conferences.
