CASA IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES ONE-TO-ONE COURT ADVOCACY TO ABUSED, NEGLECTED, OR ABDANDONED CHILDREN WHO ARE DEPENDENTS OF THE JUVENILE COURT. CASA RECRUITS, TRAINS, AND SUPERISES ADULT VOLUNTEERS.
CASA RECRUITS, TRAINS,AND SUPERVISES ADULT VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE APPOINTED BY A JUVENILE COURT JUDGE TO SPEAK FOR THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD AND HELP FIND THE CHILD A SAFE PERMANENT HOME. WITH A CASA VOLUNTEER, A CHILD IS HALF AS LIKELY TO LANGUISH IN THE FOSTER CARE AND CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM, AND MUCH MORE LIKELY TO FIND A SAFE, PERMANENT HOME.
With just over 700 kids in the custody of Child Protective Services in Jefferson County, our program was able to have CASA volunteers assigned to 179 children in 2017.
