Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE MISSOURI COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE (MCADSV) IS THE MEMBERSHIP COALITION THAT UNITES MISSOURIANS WITH A COMMON VALUE THAT RAPE AND ABUSE MUST END, AND ADVANCES THIS THROUGH EDUCATION, ALLIANCE, RESEARCH AND PUBLIC POLICY. FOUNDED IN 1980, MCADSV HAS MORE THAN 100 MEMBER PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. SINCE ITS BEGINNING, MCADSV HAS WORKED TO ENSURE THERE IS SOMEONE TO TALK TO, SOME PLACE TO GO AND SOMEONE TO HELP WOMEN VICTIMIZED BY VIOLENCE WHEN THEY NEED IT MOST. MCADSV'S MEMBERS-INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS FROM THROUGHOUT THE STATE-COUNT ON THE COALITION TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE RESOURCES, TRAINING AND EXPERTISE TO FURTHER SOCIAL JUSTICE IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES, AS WELL AS A UNIFIED VOICE AT THE STATE LEVEL TO IMPROVE PUBLIC POLICY, SYSTEMS AND RESPONSES TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING RELATED TO DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE ISSUES
TRAINING AND EDUCATION: THE MISSOURI COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE WORKS TO MAKE SURE THAT MISSOURI'S MORE THAN 100 DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE PROGRAMS HAVE THE TRAINING AND SUPPORT THEY NEED TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY, RESPECTFUL SERVICES TO SURVIVORS. MCADSV COORDINATES AN ANNUAL SCHEDULE OF TRAINING EVENTS DESIGNED TO HELP DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE SERVICE PROVIDERS AND ALLIED PROFESSIONALS IMPROVE SERVICES AVAILABLE TO SURVIVORS. IN 2019, THE COALITION OFFERED 118 SEPARATE TRAINING EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF MISSOURI, TRAINING MORE THAN 4,500 SERVICE PROVIDERS. THESE EVENTS INCLUDED STATEWIDE TRAININGS; THE 2019 LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE; REGULARLY SCHEDULED REGIONAL TRAININGS; ON-SITE TRAININGS FOR MEMBER PROGRAMS; AND COMMUNITY-BASED TRAININGS.
IN 2019, MCADSV SUPPORTED THE PASSAGE OF A LAW ALLOWING LEASE TERMINATION AND OTHER HOUSING RIGHTS TO VICTIMS OF STALKING, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE. MCADSV ALSO HALTED THE PASSAGE OF A BILL THAT WOULD DRASTICALLY CHANGE TITLE IX PROCEDURES. IN ADDITION, HELPED SECURE $18.11 MILLION FOR DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE SERVICES IN THE MISSOURI STATE BUDGET THROUGH INCREASED VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT (VOCA) GRANT FUNDING. MCADSV BROUGHT TOGETHER ADVOCATES AND ALLIED PROFESSIONALS FOR IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE SERVICES ROUNDTABLES AS WELL AS TWO PEOPLE OF COLOR GATHERINGS FOR 38 ADVOCATES OF COLOR FROM 23 MEMBER AGENCIES. MCADSV CONTINUED SERVING ON OTHER STATEWIDE COMMITTEES SUCH AS THE WOMEN'S HEALTH COUNCIL AND FAMILY COURT ACCESS.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: MCADSV OPERATES A TOLL-FREE HELPLINE FOR MISSOURI'S ADVOCACY COMMUNITY. ADVOCATES CAN CONTACT COALITION STAFF TO RECEIVE DIRECT, PROBLEM-SOLVING SERVICES IN A VARIETY OF AREAS, FROM BEST PRACTICES AND ENHANCING SKILLS IN PROVIDING DIRECT SERVICES, TO NON-PROFIT MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE. IN 2019, MCADSV STAFF RESPONDED TO MORE THAN 2,700 REQUESTS FOR ASSISTANCE FROM ADVOCATES AND DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 37,000 COPIES OF MCADSV-PRODUCED RESOURCES AND PUBLICATIONS.
