Northeast Community Center serves the educational cultural and social needs of the diverse Historic Northeast Kansas City community.
Harmony Project KC (HPKC) is a nationally recognized, research-based youth development and mentoring program that uses intense music education as a means for positive development social inclusion and community safety in low-income communities. In the period 7/1/19- 6/30/20, HPKC provided over 240 underserved youth, 1st to 12th grade with tuition-free, year-round, after-school and weekend orchestral music instruction, practice, performance opportunities and character development. HPKC provides lessons and instruments at no charge as long as students remain in school.
Community Outreach Programs - As a community center, NECC has been the center for family support in the northeast area of Kansas City since 1940, years before the Organization was incorporated. NECC provides space to area nonprofits and provides resources and referrals to the underserved families of the northeast community. NECC collaborates with Christ Presbyterian Church, the United Way of Greater Kansas City and the Kansas City Housing Authority, all on the NECC campus, to serve area residents.
