Provide safe and supportive housing for women in recovery and their families that promotes sobriety, recovery, parenting, effective household management, and healthy community relationships.
Supportive Housing - Provided fully furnished apartments and related supportive services to 49 women in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction and to 72 of their children for an average of 20 months. Families can stay at Amethyst Place as long as needed to prepare for independent living and to achieve personal goals. 82% of clients remained alcohol and drug free. 80% of clients who moved out in 2019 graduated successfully by maintaining sobriety for at least one year and transitioning successfully to independent housing.
Family Empowerment programs - program services include case management services for each resident family, family reunification support, life skills training, tutoring for moms and children, GED preparation and testing, college educational assistance, financial counseling, a mentoring program, a jobs program, a food and hygiene pantry, a clothing closet, access to mobile medical and dental services and graduate aftercare programming. Programming focuses on solving personal and family issues to help build long-term economic self-sufficiency and employment outcomes. 100 mentors meet twice a month with 50 moms for a meal and mentoring activities. As part of the program, 37 clients were employed with 18 local employers with on-the-job training. 24 clients were in college and 5 clients were pursing their GED. 25 graduates were provided access to these supportive services after transitioning to independent living. Over $80,000 in assistance was provided to clients including pantry and household items, furniture, medical and dental assistance, educational assistance, transportation and utility assistance. 94% of children who were in out-of-home placement when their mom entered Amethyst Place were reunified with their family.
Therapeutic Support Services - on-site therapeutic services were provided to 31 moms and their children by the Clinical Team (Director of Clinical Services, Family Care Manager, Family Support Therapist, Child Therapist, Recovery Support Specialist and MSW/BSW interns). The Clinical Team works with each family to develop an individualized treatment plan and Treatment Team meetings are held with the clients and the Clinical Team throughout the year.
