RideKC Bike : RideKC Bike is a 24/7 public bike and scooter share system providing a unique mix of technologies that extend the fixed-route transit system and gives local residents and visitors a variety of options for getting around Kansas City. RideKC Bike features smart electric bikes and scooters, kiosk-based pedal bikes, and programming designed to offer innovative solutions for transportation, recreation, and physical health. In 2019, riders enjoyed 24,726 trips, offsetting thousands of pounds of carbon and burning millions of calories.
Education: Featuring five innovative components, our comprehensive youth education programs empowers kids to safely bike and walk to school and to advocate for their neighborhood. Components include bicycle safety education, youth ambassador training, earn-a-bike, and public engagement. This year the programs served more than 7,367 kids in 52 schools across the metro area, with an emphasis on schools in the urban core and first-ring suburbs.
Advocacy, Public Policy, and Consulting: Work with local municipalities, including school districts and regional, state, andfederal agencies, to improve walking and biking, including public policy, technical assistance, and school travel planning. Significant work in 2019 included new Complete Streets plan developments, advocacy for a new Vision Zero plan in Kansas City, Missouri, and statewide strategic planning efforts with other advocacy organizations across both Missouri and Kansas.
