Organizations Filed Purposes: Our mission is to ensure that every resident of Kansas City's urban core, regardless of income, has access to the digital skills, computers, and internet service vital for education and employment success in today's digital world. We support Kansas City as one of the leading metropolitan communities in the U.S. for digital inclusion. We also align with the core values of the KC Chamber of Commerce: Growth, Prosperity, Inclusion, and Regionalism. The outcomes we care most about are: Kindergarten Readiness; Workforce Development; Health and Wellness; and Thriving Urban Neighborhoods

Connecting for Good is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to advancing digital equity by providing affordable internet access, low-to-no cost computers, and digital literacy training to low income communities. We support this work through electronics recycling.

Digital literacy training, including the provision of free tax preparation services on wifi-enabled computers, is Connecting for Good's (CFG) biggest program. Operated throughout 2019 in three locations: 2006 N 3rd Street in Kansas City, KS; 3210 Michigan Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri; and 3036 Troost, in the entrance lobby of the new Operation Breakthrough building. CFG provided digital skills services and training to 10,750 individuals in 2019.

Distributing, through sales and occasional giveaways, refurbished desktop and laptop computers is the second largest CFG program. 2018 was a record year, with 3,050 donated computers sold or distributed to low income individuals, families and nonprofits who serve them in the KC area.

In 2019, CFG focused on workforce development and increasing economic impact in the urban core. Four new staff were hired, all of which were trained by local workforce development agencies for "second chance" individuals. This growth helped the local economy benefit from employment growth, while the local families lacking technology have benefited from CFG's ability to scale program impact.
