HAPPY BOTTOMS' MISSION IS TO COLLABORATE WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO EMPOWER, CONNECT AND IMPACT LOW INCOME FAMILIES BY ALLEVIATING DIAPER NEED IN THE KANSAS CITY COMMUNITY. OUR VISION IS TO POSITIVELY IMPACT THE MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND FINANCIAL STABILITY OF A FAMILY IN CRISIS AND NEED THROUGH DIAPER ASSISTANCE, EDUCATION AND CONNECTION TO SERVICES.
MISSION:ALLEVIATE DIAPER NEED IN THE KANSAS CITY COMMUNITY.
AS KANSAS CITY'S ONLY DIAPER BANK, HAPPYBOTTOMS' ONGOING DIAPER DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM ALLEVIATES DIAPER NEEDS AND PROVIDES ACCESS TO OTHER CRITICAL SERVICES FOR KANSAS CITY AREA CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES LIVING WITH HOUSEHOLD INCOMES LESS THAN 150% OF FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL. CENSUS DATA SHOWS OVER 20,000 KANSAS CITY METRO AREA CHILDREN NEED DIAPER ASSISTANCE. GOVERNMENT SAFETY NET PROGRAMS (SNAP, WIC, MEDICAID) DO NOT COVER DIAPERS. IN 2019, HAPPYBOTTOMS PROVIDED 2,313,693 DIAPERS TO AN AVERAGE OF 3,177 CHILDREN EACH MONTH.WE WORK THROUGH 38 AGENCY PARTNERS TO PROVIDE MONTHLY DISTRIBUTIONS OF 50 DIAPERS OR 30 PULL UPS TO CHILDREN FOR THE EARLIER OF THREE YEARS OF SERVICE OR UNTIL THEIR FOURTH BIRTHDAY. OUR BUNDLES OF JOY PROGRAM MAKES ONE-TIME DISTRIBUTIONS OF 75 DIAPERS TO NEWBORNS AND MOTHERS WHEN THEY LEAVE ONE OF OUR FIVE PARTNER HOSPITALS, ALONG WITH INFORMATION ABOUT OUR ONGOING PROGRAM. WE LAUNCHED A POTTY TRAINING EDUCATION PILOT IN 2018 AND ARE EXPANDING THE PROGRAM TO 500 ADDITIONAL FAMIILES WITH THE GOAL OF PROVIDING SAFE AND AGE-APPROPRIATE TRAINING AND ELIMINATING THE NEED FOR DIAPERS ALTOGETHER. OUR PARTNERS PROVIDE HEALTHCARE, EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE, EDUCATION, CHILDCARE AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO FAMILIES IN NEED. A PARTNER MODEL HAS A RIPPLE EFFECT ON FAMILIES BY PROVIDING ACCESS TO OTHER SERVICES THAT WILL HELP LIFT THEM OUT OF POVERTY.
