The mission of the Kansas City Museum Foundation is to develop initiatives, convene leaders, and mobilize resources through inclusive partnerships to support the mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of the Kansas City Museum.
The mission of the Kansas City Museum is to preserve, interpret, and celebrate Kansas City through collections, exhibitions, and bold programs that reflect the City's evolution and spirit, and engage visitors in unfolding stories about Kansas City's vibrant history, cultural heritage, and pride. The vision of the Kansas City Museum is to be a hub of learning, creativity, and collaboration where individuals and communities innovate and inspire engagement and civic unity.
In 2019, construction renovation for the Kansas City Museum's Corinthian Hall was completed, and the Kansas City Museum Foundation was allocated $1,000,000 in Missouri Development Finance Board tax credits to leverage tax credit contributions for the development and fabrication of exhibits for Corinthian Hall. The restoration and renovation of Corinthian Hall remains a $22 million project with $16 million in public funding and $6 million in private funding being raised by the Kansas City Museum Foundation. Also in 2019, the Kansas City Museum assembled a team of educators to develop education and public programs using a restorative practices methodology, which requires collaboration and inclusive community engagement for both inspiration and accountability and is vetted continuously by the client and its stakeholders. This restorative approach honors the Museum's extensive physical, brick and mortar restoration to restore its history and carries that transformation forward to maximize the impact the Museum has on our City's future. As the Kansas City Museum Foundation prepares to fully govern, operate, and manage the Kansas City Museum in the near future, they will start at a place of strength with a robust core program schedule.
