Hire KC - Hire KC Youth was started in 2014 by former Kansas City, Missouri Mayor Sly James. Today, with the leadership of Mayor Lucas, Hire KC acts as the city's youth success platform helping to align and organize the region's work-based opportunities across the public, private and nonprofit sectors to support equity, and to illuminate career pathways so that all youth can learn and grow into promising futures. In 2019, Hire KC connected 253 youth to internships at 103 worksites across the Kansas City region.
Project Commons - The Project Commons launched in the summer as an impact-driven readiness platform for high school students, designed to deliver real-world learning in an innovative and collaborative youth-centered space. The program offered a curriculum crafted to foster three intensive projects within the sectors of Spatial Design, Marketing Design, and Digital Communication Design, and successfully achieved its goal of accelerating youth work-readiness through curated, client-connected projects that radically develop our local talent through passion and purpose, curiosity and essential skill-building.
Draw Your Future with Agilities - KCSIC launched this pilot in 2019 on behalf of the DeBruce Foundation, managing the pilot from start to finish. This unique collaboration provided a tangible vehicle to mobilize students from their current reality into their desired future through critical thought and self awareness. Draw Your Future with Agilities shifts behavior and empowers creative thinking for a more goal-oriented future. The Agile Work Profiler aids students in the recognition of their work-related strengths and passions, allowing them to ideate around how they can supply their skill set towards work that reflects a matching demand.
