Organizations Filed Purposes:
NourishKC is collaboratively working to innovate systemic changes in Greater Kansas City's emergency food services. These changes will lead to additional partnerships within the system, better access to healthy food, and produce long-term impact to guests while growing an innovative model.
The Kansas City Community Kitchen serves a fresh, made from scratch, healthy lunch meal for 400-450 daily with three full-time kitchen staff and 25 daily volunteers. During 2019, we served nearly 90,000 meals to our local community. Sourcing healthy food through collaborations with the local foodbank, two Whole Foods locations, and other local gardens, we kept our meal cost to $0.19 per meal.
Food Rescue. NourishKC rescues food from two local Whole Foods, restaurants, local vendors, and community gardens, to local food pantries and the KC Community Kitchen. During 2019, we had one full-time driver.
Culinary Cornerstones Training Program (CCTP). NourishKC did not have any classes in 2019. We worked to secure funding to hire a Culinary Director in 2020, so that classes could start in 2020.
