SAINT LUKE'S COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES IS AN EDUCATIONAL LEADER SERVING EXCEPTIONAL STUDENTS PURSUING UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE DEGREES IN NURSING AND ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONS. AS AN INDEPENDENT INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION CLOSELY AFFILIATED WITH SAINT LUKE'S HOSPITAL, THE COLLEGE SEEKS TO PREPARE HEALTH PROFESSIONS LEADERS TO EFFECTIVELY MEET THE HEALTHCARE NEEDS OF DIVERSE POPULATIONS IN COMPLEX ORGANIZATIONS AND IN A VARIETY OF SETTINGS. A BROAD BASE OF KNOWLEDGE DERIVED FROM GENERAL EDUCATION STUDIES IS INTEGRATED INTO EACH PROGRAM AS A FOUNDATION FOR PERSONAL GROWTH, PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION, AND PRACTICE. A STIMULATING ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT FOCUSES ON DISCOVERY, SCHOLARSHIP AND PRACTICE TO ADDRESS SOCIETAL NEEDS FOR NURSING AND OTHER HEALTHCARE SERVICES.
HIGHER EDUCATION -ACCREDITED NURSING AND ALLIED HEALTH COLLEGE
SAINT LUKE'S COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES BEGAN IN 1887 WHEN SAINT LUKE'S HOSPITAL OPENED A SCHOOL FOR NURSES. THE SCHOOL WAS ESTABLISHED AS A DEPARTMENT WITHIN THE HOSPITAL IN 1903, AND IT EARNED ACCREDITATION AS A BACCALAUREATE DEGREE-GRANTING INSTITUTION IN 1995. IN 2010, SAINT LUKE'S COLLEGE BECAME A SEPARATE NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION WITH SAINT LUKE'S HOSPITAL OF KANSAS CITY BEING THE SOLE MEMBER. STUDENTS AT SAINT LUKE'S COLLEGE HAVE A VARIETY OF CLINICAL OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN SAINT LUKE'S HEALTH SYSTEM. TODAY SAINT LUKE'S COLLEGE HAS BSN AND RN-BSN TRACKS IN ITS UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM AND OFFERS A GRADUATE DEGREE AND CERTIFICATE IN ADULT-GERONTOLOGY ACUTE NURSE PRACTITIONER (AG-ACNP). THE COLLEGE IS ACCREDITED BY THE HIGHER LEARNING COMMISSION (HLC) AND THE COMMISSION ON COLLEGIATE NURSING EDUCATION (CCNE) AND IS FULLY APPROVED BY THE MISSOURI STATE BOARD OF NURSING.
