To empower mid-life and older adults to live healthy, engaged and independent lives.
The Senior Companion Program matches seniors 55 and over in Jackson County, MO who live at or below the federal financial poverty line with homebound seniors. The Senior Companions provide 15-30 hours a week of critical in-home companionship to their homebound clients and their families to help them stay in their homes, reduce dangerous social isolation and allow caregivers time to take care of important family business. For their dedication, the Senior Companions are paid a small stipend and are reimbursed for their transportation. In 2019, 63 Companions served over 100 families providing over 65,000 hours of service at no charge to the clients and saving families and taxpayers an estimated amount over $1,300,000.
Home Delivered Meals - In 2019 over 60 volunteers delivered approximately 10,000 nutritious hot meals to homebound older adults in need in the Kansas City area.
The Adventures in Learning Program meets 40 Friday's each year with an array of classes and luncheon speakers serving over 150 individuals. The multi-cultural and community-based program is geared toward older adults who want to continue learning, become engaged in the community and make new friends. The Care Connection is a coordinated response to the special needs of caregivers of older adults. Other Organizational programs and support services positively impact nutrition, access to medical care and overall good health. These support services help to preserve the independence of older adults and extend support for caregivers.
