Organizations Filed Purposes:
The exempt purpose of Artists First is to foster growth through creative self-expression for individuals with disabilities, veterans, youth and elders with memory loss.
Lifeworks: Supported EmploymentWith the support of the St Louis Office for Developmental Disability Resources ($60,702) provide comprehensive customized art programming to (11) professionally minded artists with developmental disabilities to obtain their greatest potential and growth in employmnet, social, emotional and physical domains. 100% of the artists in the Lifeworks program increased their earning capacity; 84% increased their financial literacy; 90% of Lifeworks artists participated in community integration events and 100% of the participants increased the development of hard and soft life skills necessary to access and succeed in community and social life.
Open Sudio: Provided services to 225 individuals including those with disabilities (physical, cognitive and mental health), veterans and specifically veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and/or substance abuse, elders with memory loss and their caregivers, disconnected youth, and those experiencing toxic stress. The Regional Arts Commission supported the adult open studio program with a $13,500 grant.
Artists First for Vetarans: with the support of the Boeing Corporations ($25,000) offered programming to 20 plus veterans in transitional housing. The program had a 90% retention rate; 75% of participating veterans actively engaged in treatment as a result of having opportunities to creativity explore, process and heal mental/emotional wounds and 75% of participants self-reported an increase in emotional well-being and a reduction of distressing emotions.
