Embracing the Ferguson Commissions mandate, Forward Through Ferguson centers impacted communities and mobilizes accountable bodies to advance racially equitable systems and policies that ensure all people in the St. Louis region can thrive.
Forward Through Ferguson built the capacity of community members, nonprofits, businesses, governmental agencies, and philanthropic organizations to address racial inequities in the St. Louis Region. The organization educated residents on pressing disparities through storytelling communications campaigns. The organization worked with stakeholders to create community accountability tools that track efforts across St. Louis to implement the Ferguson Commission report. Through partnerships with community organizations, FTF engaged in legally permissible forms of advocacy to advance Calls to Action aligned to the Signature Priority Areas of the Ferguson Commission Report.
The organization provided technical assistance to over 30 institutions and coalitions on shifting their structure or strategic plans to better address racial disparities. Forward Through Ferguson canvassed, engaged with, and surveyed hundreds of community members and reported out learnings to the region. FTF cohosted regional forums, voter education events, and the inaugural St. Louis Racial Equity Summit which reached and engaged over 3,000 residents. FTF produced and released trainings, tools, and opportunities for reconciliation and racial healing, community building, institutional transformation.
