Lollys Place, Inc. is a literacy focused afterschool tutoring and enrichment program established in May 2015. We offer one-on-one and small group tutoring plus art, enrichment classes, yoga, and more. We run programming Mon-Thurs during the school year and summer camps.
We serve children who need academic and mentoring support to supplement classroom education. Students face one or more obstacles: learning disabilities, inadequate educational support, or language barriers. Tutoring is vital to closing their achievement gap.Our goals are to foster a genuine love of learning and to help students achieve academic success. We design lesson plans to strengthen the unique way students learn best and to foster confidence in their ability to be successful in school. Historically, 80% of students have shown gains of at least two reading levels.We welcome children of all academic abilities, ethnicities, faiths, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We value diversity and intentionally cultivate a diverse student body, staff, and volunteers. We reached 126 children from 17 schools, 65% of whom received scholarships to attend our program. Our inclusive philosophy allows children to meet and interact with a diverse array of tutors and peers.
