OUR AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM ALLOWS PEOPLE IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES THE OPPORTUNITY TO REALIZE THEIR DREAM OF BECOMING HOME OWNERS. IN ADDITION TO PURCHASING THEIR HOMES AT SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED COSTS WELL UNDER FAIR MARKET VALUE AND RECEIVING CLOSING COST AND DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE, HOMEBUYERS CAN PERSONALIZE THEIR HOMES BY SELECTING PAINT COLORS, APPLIANCES, SIDING, MASONRY, CABINETS AND OTHER FEATURES. THE NATURALLY OCCURRING RETIREMENT COMMUNITY (NORC) PROGRAM:THE A CARING PLUS FOUNDATION NORC IS ONE OF THREE NORC'S IN MISSOURI, FUNDED IN LARGE PART BY THE MISSOURI DIVISION OF SENIOR AND DISABILITY SERVICES. THE GOAL OF THE NORC PROGRAM IS TO HELP SENIORS AGE 60 AND OLDER AGE SAFELY WITHIN THEIR HOMES. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL, OUR NORC PROGRAM OFFERS A NUMBER OF SERVICES, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING: LAWN CARE SERVICES TO ITS MEMBERS. LAWNS ARE CUT TWICE PER MONTH DURING GRASS GROWING SEASONS.MINOR HOME REPAIRS THAT IMPROVE THE SAFETY AND OVERALL EFFICIENCY OF THE NORC MEMBER'S HOMES.PROVIDE UTILITY BILL ASSISTANCE TO MEMBERS WHO HAVE RECEIVED TERMINATION NOTICES.EXERCISE PROGRAM THAT FOCUSES ON ACTIVITIES THAT HELP STRENGTHEN MEMBERS' ABILITY TO CORRECTLY PERFORM ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING.BASIC COMPUTER CLASSES DESIGNED TO IMPROVE SENIORS UNDERSTANDING AND USE OF TECHNOLOGY. MONTHLY FOOD BOXES ARE PROVIDED THAT CONTAIN NON-PERISHABLE FOOD FOR QUALIFYING MEMBERS.A VARIETY OF EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS THAT FOCUS ON CHRONIC PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ILLNESSES. I.E. HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, DIABETES, CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE, COPD, DEPRESSION AND GRIEF ADDITIONALLY, THE PROGRAM OFFERS SOCIALIZATION ACTIVITIES SUCH AS MOVIES, BINGO, FIELD TRIPS AND DINNERS.
