ALSO, THE ORGANIZATION SEEKS TO PROTECT AND PROMOTE THE BILL OF RIGHTS BY PROVIDING FREE LEGAL SERVICES TO THOSE WHOSE INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS HAVE BEEN VIOLATED BY THE GOVERNMENT.

PUBLIC EDUCATION - ORGANIZATION CURRENTLY PUBLISHES CITIZEN ACTION LIBERTIES ALERTS AND ENGAGES IN PUBLIC EDUCATION ON ISSUES OF FREE SPEECH, RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, CRIMINAL JUSTICE, RACIAL JUSTICE AND GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY FOR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS AND CIVIL LIBERTIES, IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING SPEAKERS FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS AND SCHOOLS HOLDING EDUCATIONAL FORUMS AND CONDUCTING PUBLIC RELATIONS THROUGH THE MEDIA. LEGAL ASSISTANCE - ORGANIZATION SEEKS TO PROTECT AND PROMOTE THE BILL OF RIGHTS BY PROVIDING FREE LEGAL SERVICES TO THOSE WHOSE INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS HAVE BEEN VIOLATED BY THE GOVERNMENT. LITIGATION ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE REPORTED YEAR INCLUDE: A SUCCESSFUL LAWSUIT PREVENTING THEMISSOURI SECRETARY OF STATE FROM REJECTING REFERENDUM PETITIONS BASED SOLELY ON HIS VIEW THAT REFERENDUM IS NOT AVAILABLE; SECURED AN INJUNCTION AGAINST MISSOURI LEGISLATURE'S ATTEMPT TO BAN ABORTION; SECURED CLASS CERTIFICATION FOR MAKERS AND SELLERS OF PLANT-BASED MEATS CHALLENGING A STATUTE CRIMINIALIZING THE MARKETING OF THEIR PRODUCTS AS MEAT; OBTAINED AN APPELLATE COURT DECISION EXPLAINING THAT RESTRICTIONS UNDER THE FEDERAL FREEDOM OF INFORMATION CANNOT BE USED BY MISSOURI GOVERNMENT ENTITITES TO HIDE PUBLIC RECORDS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE OPEN TO PUBLIC INSPECTION AND COPYING; COMMENCED A LITIGATION PLAN TO ENSURE THAT INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS ARE PROTECTED FROM GOVERNMENT OVERREACH DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC.THE ACLU OF MISSOURI HAS A ROBUST STATEWIDE VOLUNTEER BASE THAT PARTICIPATES IN VARIOUS ACTIVITIES, EVENTS, KNOW YOUR RIGHTS WORKSHOPS, TOWNHALLS, AND MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
