THE MISSION OF HAVENHOUSE IS TO PROVIDE THE COMFORT OF HOME AND A COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT FOR PATIENTS AND FAMILIES TRAVELING MORE THAN 25 MILES TO ST. LOUIS TO RECEIVE MEDICAL CARE. HAVENHOUSE IS A HOME AWAY FROM HOME PROVIDING LODGING, MEALS, SUPPORT SERVICES, AND TRANSPORTATION TO 17 MEDICAL CENTERS SO THAT PATIENTS CAN BENEFIT FROM THE SUPPORT FROM THEIR FAMILIES WHILE RECEIVING CRITICAL MEDICAL SERVICES THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE UNAVAILABLE TO THEM.
HAVENHOUSE IS THE ONLY HOSPITALITY HOUSE IN THE REGION THAT SERVES PATIENTS OF ALL AGES WITH ANY MEDICAL CONDITION. IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, HAVENHOUSE OPENED ITS DOORS TO 3,176 PEOPLE (INCLUDING 663 UNIQUE PATIENTS). THESE FAMILIES ARE STRUGGLING WITH BASIC NECESSITIES, AND CANNOT AFFORD TO BE SICK AND AWAY FROM HOME. FOR THESE PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES, HAVENHOUSE IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SICKNESS AND HEALTH. HAVENHOUSE IS A VITAL PARTNER WITH THE ST. LOUIS MEDICAL COMMUNITY, PLAYING AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN HELPING TO IMPROVE MEDICAL OUTCOMES AND REDUCE STRESS ON FAMILY MEMBERS.THE PRIMARY MEDICAL SERVICES FACED BY THE PATIENTS AND FAMILIES IN NEED OF HAVENHOUSE IN FISCAL YEAR 2020 INCLUDED ORTHOPEDIC CARE AND SURGERY, CANCER TREATMENT, OBGYN SERVICES, NEUROLOGICAL CONDITIONS, AND GI CARE. SINCE OPENING IN 2005, THE ORGANIZATION HAS SERVED OVER 38,100 PATIENTS AND OVER 103,000 PEOPLE, ENCOMPASSING ALL 50 STATES AND 73 COUNTRIES. 69% OF ALL PATIENTS WERE CHILDREN (18 YEARS AND YOUNGER) IN FISCAL YEAR 2020.HAVENHOUSE SAINT LOUIS HAS BEEN AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE HEALTHCARE HOSPITALITY NETWORK (HHN), WHICH DEVELOPS BEST PRACTICES, TRAINING AND EDUCATION FOR HOSPITALITY HOUSES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. HAVENHOUSE IS ALSO ONE OF ONLY 200+ ST. LOUIS ACCREDITED CHARITIES THAT MEETS ALL 20 BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU'S WISE GIVING "STRONG AND COMPREHENSIVE" STANDARDS FOR FISCAL MANAGEMENT, BOARD GOVERNANCE, TRUTHFULNESS, TRANSPARENCY AND EFFECTIVE FOCUS ON ITS MISSION. IN FY 2020, ALMOST 200 VOLUNTEERS SUPPORTED HAVENHOUSE BY PROVIDING MANY KEY FUNCTIONS, INCLUDING IT, WEBSITE, RECEPTIONIST, FUND-RAISING, MAINTENANCE, AND TRANSPORTATION. WITH NEARLY 20 VOLUNTEER GROUPS STEPPING IN TO HELP, THEIR SERVICES RANGE FROM OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND STRONG YOUNG PROFESSIONALS BOARD TO BUSINESSES, COLLEGES, CIVIC CLUBS, AND CHURCHES. HAVENHOUSE ALSO BENEFITED FROM MANY THIRD-PARTY EVENTS HELD BY COMPANIES AND ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE ST. LOUIS AREA. HAVENHOUSE STAFF IS SMALL; VOLUNTEERS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR DONATED ALMOST 2,500 HOURS EQUIVALENT TO $62,490 IN SALARY SAVINGS.
