FOUNDED IN 1901, IT IS ONE OF THE REGION'S OLDEST AND LARGEST NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. FUNDS ARE DISTRIBUTED TO DOZENS OF LOCAL, NATIONAL,AND INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES TO FEED THE HUNGRY, EDUCATE STUDENTS OF ALL AGES, CARE FOR THE YOUNG AND OLD, FIGHT ANTI-SEMITISM, PROMOTE JEWISH CULTURE AND SUPPORT THE JEWISH COMMUNITY IN ISRAEL AND AROUND THE WORLD. HOLOCAUST MUSEUM AND LEARNING CENTER: THE MUSEUM AND LEARNING CENTER OPENED IN 1995. MORE THAN 30,000 PEOPLE VISIT THE MUSEUM EACH YEAR, INCLUDING 20,000 STUDENTS. ADMITTANCE TO THE MUSEUM AND ALL PROGRAMS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. THE MUSEUM PROVIDES A CHRONOLOGICAL HISTORY OF THE HOLOCAUST WITH PERSONAL ACCOUNTS OF HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS WHO IMMIGRATED TO ST. LOUIS. A "CHANGE BEGINS WITH ME" EXHIBIT PROMOTES TOLERANCE AND DIVERSITY AND CHRONICLES MODERN DAY EXAMPLES OF DISCRIMINATION AND ENCOURAGES PERSONAL ACTION WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.
