ProvideMTCs education programs provide a range of in-school arts-integrated curriculum for students, professional development training opportunities for teachers, opportunities to develop skill in the perfoming arts at camps for young people, and the signature violence prevention program, Say Something, Do Something. In-school programs run daily to schools in the St. Louis region throughout the fall and spring semesters, with occassional after care workshops offered in select districts. In total 1,545 students at 17 schools were impacted by these programs, school residencies and workshops. 187 campers participated in camps, and 3,689 students participated in Say Something, Do Something. During FY19, research done on Say Something, Do Somethings effectiveness in changing behaviors and perceptions about violence and conflict resolution was shared at the American Public Health Association annual conference.
Provide productions to over 18,000 clients through performances and issuing original publications including Educators Guide to all productions and an annual newsletter. MTCs performance series in FY19 included one touring production Frida Libre and two resident productions at Grandel Theater Wonderland Alices Rock and Roll Adventure and The Hundred Dresses. Staged by professional actors and young audiences, each performance included a post-show conversation and were offered for a combination of public audiences on weekend and school day matinee audiences during the week. Frida Libre was inspired by the childhood of the iconic artist Frido Hahlo and toured across St. Louis, as well as to the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, FL, in total reaching 8,834 audience members. Wonderland was a contemporary retelling of Lewis Carrolls classic story and reached 6,426 audience members. The Hundred Dresses was an adaptation of the Newberry Honor Book about a bullying and immigration - 6,558 audience members attended it.
