PANERA BREAD FOUNDATION, INC. MAKES FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO QUALIFIED TAX-EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS WHOSE PROGRAMS ADDRESS BASIC HUMAN NEEDS. HOWEVER, PATRONS WERE ENCOURAGED TO TAKE WHAT THEY NEEDED AND TO DONATE THEIR FAIR SHARE. THE CAFES ALSO OFFERED THE OPTION OF VOLUNTEERING TIME IN EXCHANGE FOR A MEAL.
Panera Bread Foundation, Inc. seeks to eliminate and raise awareness of food insecurity. It obtains funds through public contributions and from operation of Panera Cares Cafes.

Panera Cares is a program run by the Panera Bread Foundation. It consists of one cafe which operates similarly to a traditional Panera Bread cafe.
