REBUILDING TOGETHER ST. LOUIS REPAIRS HOMES, REVITALIZES COMMUNITIES AND REBUILDS LIVES. OUR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS WORK WITH THE COMMUNITY BY REHABILITATING THE HOUSES OF LOW INCOME HOMEOWNERS, PARTICULARLY SENIORS, VETERAN, AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES SO THAT THEY MAY CONTINUE TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY IN COMFORT AND SAFETY. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO RENEWS NEIGHBORHOODS BY REBUILDING COMMUNITY CENTERS, PLAYGROUNDS, AND OTHER COMMUNITY PROJECTS.
REVITALIZE NEIGHBORHOODS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY BY REHABILITATING THE HOMES OF LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS SO THAT THEY MAY CONTINUE TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY IN COMFORT AND SAFETY.
THE REBUILDING DAY PROGRAM HELPS LOW-INCOME OLDER ADULTS, VETERANS, AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES REMAIN IN THEIR HOMES SAFELY AND COMFORTABLY. BY LEVERAGING THE POWER OF VOLUNTEERS TO PROVIDE FREE HOME REPAIRS, THE ORGANIZATION ASSISTED 100 HOMEOWNERS AND THEIR FAMILIES THIS YEAR. REBUILDING DAYS ARE TYPICALLY HELD TWICE EACH YEAR, WITH ADDITIONAL REPAIR WORK PROVIDED YEAR-ROUND BY REBUILDING TOGETHER EXPRESS VOLUNTEERS, STAFF AND CONTRACTORS. EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS INCLUDE RAMPS TO IMPROVE ACCESSIBILITY, PAINTING, FLOORING UPDATES, REPAIRS TO STEPS, WINDOWS AND DOORS, AND SAFETY UPDATES SUCH AS INSTALLATION OF STAIR RAILINGS, GRAB BARS AND SMOKE DETECTORS.
THE MAJOR REPAIRS PROGRAM SUPPORTS HOME REPAIRS SUCH AS ROOF REPLACEMENT, HVAC, PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL PROJECTS THAT ARE BEYOND THE SCOPE OF THE VOLUNTEER-DRIVEN PROJECTS. THESE REPAIRS ARE PROVIDED BY CONTRACTORS AT NO COST TO LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS WHO ARE OLDER ADULTS, VETERANS, AND/OR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES. IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, 40 HOMEOWNERS RECEIVED MAJOR REPAIR SERVICES ON THEIR HOMES, IMPROVING SAFETY, COMFORT, ACCESSIBILITY AND MAKING IT POSSIBLE FOR THEM TO AGE IN PLACE.
