SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK: THE FESTIVAL'S ANNUAL PRODUCTION IN SHAKESPEARE GLEN WAS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19. IN LIEU OF THE PARK PRODUCTION, THE ORGANIZATION MOUNTED AN IMMERSIVE WALKING TOUR EXPERIENCE THROUGH FOREST PARK TITLED: A LATE SUMMER NIGHT'S STROLL. THIS 80-MINUTE WALK WAS A SOCIALLY-DISTANT AND SELF-GUIDED TOUR OF ICONIC SPOTS AND HIDDEN GEMS THROUGHOUT THE PARK, FEATURING CUSTOM INSTALLATIONS, OPEN-AIR PERFORMANCES (OVER 50 ARTISTS EMPLOYED), AND CHARMING VIGNETTES LOOSELY INSPIRED BY SHAKESPSEARE'S A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. THE EXPERIENCE RAN FROM AUGUST 12 - SEPTEMBER 6, 2020. DURING THE FOUR-WEEK RUN, OVER 11,000 PEOPLE ENJOYED THIS UNIQUE EXPERIENCE FREE OF CHARGE.
SHAKESPEARE IN THE STREETS: EACH YEAR THE FESTIVAL PRODUCES AN ORIGINAL, COMMUNITY-BASED THEATRICAL PRODUCTION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH A LOCAL NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE ST. LOUIS METROPOLITAN REGION. DUE TO COVID-19 THE ANNUAL PRODUCTION OF SHAKESPEARE IN THE STREETS (SCHEDULED FOR THE VILLE NEIGHBORHOOD OF NORTH ST. LOUIS) WAS POSTPONED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2021.
SHAKESPEARE IN THE SCHOOLS: THE EDUCATION TOURCO PRODUCTION OF CYMBELINE WAS SCHEDULED TO VISIT SCHOOLS, LIBRARIES, AND COMMUNITY CENTERS IN MISSOURI AND ILLINOIS--OFFERING MANY STUDENTS THEIR FIRST OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE LIVE THEATER. FROM FEBRUARY 24 - MARCH 13, 2020, A 90-MINUTE CONDENSED VERSION OF CYMBELINE WAS PRESENTED. WHEN IN-PERSON PUBLIC GATHERINGS WERE SUSPENDED DUE TO COVID-19, THE PRODUCTION WAS PROFESSIONALLY FILMED AND RELEASED ONLINE TO HOST SITES AND THE LARGER COMMUNITY OF EDUCATORS AND THEATER ENTHUSIASTS. ADDITIONALLY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN ONLINE OR OUTDOOR CLASSES AND CAMPS CALLED SHAKESPEARE SQUADRON AND CAMP SHAKESPEARE.
