Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE STANLY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY PROMOTES KNOWLEDGE,UNDER- STANDING AND APPRECIATION OF STANLY COUNTY'S RICH HERITAGE AND HISTORY THROUGH EDUCATION AND PRESERVATION OF ARTIFACTS AND HISTORIC SITES.
THE SOCIETY OWNS TWO HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT HOUSES IN THE COUNTY THAT ARE AVAILABLE FOR PREARRANGED TOURS FOR SCHOOL GROUPS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC, FREE OF CHARGE, STAFFED BY VOLUNTEER DOCENTS. THERE WERE OVER 400 VISITORS TO THESE PROPERTIES THIS YEAR.
THE SOCIETY HAS FREE MONTHLY PROGRAMS FEATURING A SPEAKER ON LOCAL HISTORICAL PEOPLE OR EVENTS. TWO IN-PERSON EVENTS HAD APPROXIMATELY 150 ATTENDEES EACH, ON-LINE PRESENTATIONS HAD OVER 400 VIEWERS EACH.
THE SOCIETY SUPPORTS ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS OF THE STANLY COUNTY HISTORY CENTER AND OTHER HISTORY RELATED PROJECTS. THIS YEAR THEY CONTRIBUTED FUNDS TO BE USED FOR A HISTORICAL SCULPTURE FOR THE COUNTY.
