Organizations Filed Purposes:
Mission Statement (continued): the Foundation supports: research of wild habitats and natural parrot behaviors; conservation and eco-tourism; better avian education for vets; and standards of care for breeders, pet stores, and welfare organizations. Our goals are also to build and maintain a sustainable organization; and ensure that adopted Phoenix Landing birds are physically and legally protected.
Phoenix Landing Foundation is an organization dedicated to the welfare of parrots - especially those with an extensive lifespan, through it's adoption, education and refuge programs. In addition, (continued on page 2)
Adoption: 87 new birds were taken under the protective umbrella of Phoenix Landing in 2019, for a total of 2,982 birds. Numerous other birds already in our system were rehomed again, since these birds can live long lives and usually need a succession of good homes. 104 birds were adopted to Phoenix Landing applicants in 2019.
Education: this continues to be our most important mission, hosting numerous events in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and NE Florida locations. In 2019, 61 seminars and 17 outreach events were hosted by Phoenix Landing. We also worked hard to organize and plan our 2020 Wellness Retreat, a major international conference. Due to Covid-10, that conference will now be virtual
Conservation: Phoenix Landing sponsored events and fundraisers to support two major conservation organizations, the World Parrot Trust and the Indonesian Parrot Project. In addition, we sponsored our first eco-tour to Africa in 2019. We are working on our first ecotour to Bolivia in 2020.
