Organizations Filed Purposes:
Keep the arts at the heart of our community. AAAC fulfills its mission by supporting arts organizations and artists in Buncombe County through advocacy, public art, and services for creatives.
Grant Programs: In FY20, AAAC awarded $43,550 in grants to 22 arts organizations through out the county through our Grassroot Arts Program grant including Asheville Community Theater, LEAF, Asheville Writers in Schools and many more. Further, we awarded $12,000 in grants to artists in Buncombe, Avery Mitchell, Yance and Madison Counties through the Reginal Artist Project grant
Exhibition Program: Through the Point of View Curator program, we offer local artists the opportunity to curate exhibits in AAAC's 1800 sq ft gallery Refinery Creator Space. In 202, the program featured 4 currated exhibitions and 1 community exhibit. A total of 184 artists participated in these events.
Arts and Wellness Program: Provides a hands-on workshop experience in ceramics, painting, drawing, weaving and other mediums to veterans. This program is offers to veterans who are in rehab for substance abuse, are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, suffer from PTSD and other incapacities. In FY 20, 84 veterans were served.
