Bountiful Cities is the urban agriculture resource in Asheville. We share agriculture resources and skills to promote social justice and economic viability. We envision abundant and food sovereign communities.
FEAST: a hands on cooking and garden program teaching over 1,200 students in Asheville City and Buncombe County elementary and middle schools to grow, prepare and eat fresh produce as a part of their in-school or after-school curriculum. In 2019 we added an additional 8 locations to this program and also supported the installation of this program at Hot Springs Elementary School in Madison County with initial funding from a private donor.
Grass to Greens is our fee-based program that works with over 50 homeowners and small businesses to install and maintain their edible landscapes. This program also with grant funding does yearly maintenance at the FEAST locations that also have gardens which supports the FEAST instructors to devote their time to curriculum implementation and development.
Asheville/Buncombe Community Garden Network: The network supports over 36 Community Gardens in Asheville/Buncombe County. Bountiful Cities facilitates information and resource sharing, gardening education workshops, monthly Garden Meetups and Newsletter, a Tool and Seed Library, shared fundraising, and volunteer recruitment, while connecting area gardens with support systems.
