Organizations Filed Purposes:
COPLAC communicates to external and internal constituencies the importance, economic value, and benefits of students engaging in a liberal arts education in the public sector. It collaborates with major national higher education organizations like the Association of American Colleges and Universities, and the Council on Undergraduate Research.
COPLAC works actively with member institutions to improve the quality of arts and sciences education on each campus. (Continued on page 2)
COPLAC hosts approximately 30 faculty from member institutions each summer for a three day professional development program conducted at the University of North Carolina Asheville. This year's event focused on music programs in the liberal arts and was held virtually.
COPLAC organizes two regional, student research conferences each year. Approximately 16 member institutions participate in these conferences which feature undergraduate research, scholarly, and creative work.
Each semester, COPLAC facilitates virtual meetings for various communities of practice to discuss common issues, share resources, and assess best practices. Among the meetings held this year were those for chief academic officers; marketing and communications directors; lifelong learning center directors, etc.
